Leaders in Injection in Colombia
Injectivity
12 years of experience in the sector
The primary forces acting in oil reservoirs as oil recovery mechanisms,
Generally, they have been implemented through the injection of water and gas in secondary recovery processes in order to increase energy and, consequently, increase recovery.
Subsequently, other improved oil recovery processes have been used, but their application has been limited by the profitability required for commercial exploitation.
For these reasons, water and gas injection continue to be the most widely used conventional methods to obtain extra oil recovery in reservoirs.
Our main client, ECOPETROL, strategically applies operational efficiency in water management, where it seeks to balance water consumption in operations with the provision of water for the ecosystem, with the aim of reaching neutrality.
The integrated management of water in businesses generates value through the authorization of production and reserves, guaranteeing the availability and continuity of current and future water supply for projects and operations, contributing to the sustainability of water resources.
The largest volumes of production water reuse are concentrated in reinjection activities to maintain reservoir pressure or increase hydrocarbon production (94.3 million m3), and to a lesser extent (0.1 million m3 ), in preparation of drilling muds, well maintenance, fire-fighting systems, equipment refrigeration, power generation in Termosuria, among others.
On the other hand, it is necessary to comply with the regulation issued by the Ministry of the Environment, Housing and Territorial Development, through Decree 3930 of October 25, 2010, Chapter VI Article 27. On the reinjection of liquid waste.
The reinjection of water from oil exploration and exploitation, natural gas and geothermal resources is only allowed, as long as the current or potential use of the aquifer is not impeded.
The Environmental Impact Study required for the granting of the environmental license for oil, gas and geothermal resource exploration and exploitation activities, when applicable, must evaluate the reinjection of water from these activities, anticipating the possible affectation to the current and potential use of the aquifer.
